CAP THA WISEGUY
"STR8 OUTTA JERSEY"
CAP tha Wiseguy is a unique and clever underground artist who has been making music for as long as he can remember. From a young age, he was instantly tied to music through his father who was a performing musician playing in a very popular cover band every weekend. This led to CAP not only learning the sounds and intricacies of different instruments, but him getting to see the behind the scenes factors that went into being a successful musician: vocal training, rehearsing and crowd engagement, amongst many other things. Around the age of 9 he took an extreme liking to drums and even had an old set given to him to practice and play at will. Listening to great artists such as Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen & Bon Jovi, CAP would spend hours jamming away, emulating the sounds playing in his headphones.
A troubled childhood that led to him being raised solely by his mother, CAP turned to creating his own music, primarily in the form of rhythmic poetry. As it was not a happy occurrence, he often touched on the emotional times he was going through and used that as a way to cope. As he got older, he become more accustomed to creating lyrics that he started to freestyle and adlib concepts on the fly based on his surroundings and experiences. Battling regularly amongst his peers and even performing at parties and the local mall he grew popular and had a small following in the process. This led to him linking up with a local DJ and recording some songs at his studio. After selling quite a few copies of the cassette, and eventually some CD's, he continued to create but wanted to get more into songwriting moreso than just off the top freestyling.
After a falling out with the local DJ, CAP decided to build his own studio and started his own label, “A-GAME Records.” Along with two other rappers they launched a group called the “P-C-P Moneymakers.” After one of the members got into some serious legal trouble, the two remaining artists changed their plan and became “Union Starz.” They booked some pretty good shows in the process until the two had some creative differences and went their separate ways to pursue more of a solo career as the label ended in the process.
Feeling somewhat uninspired after the split, CAP linked up with an upcoming engineer who was also interested in becoming an artist as well. They decided to make a new label which was called “CPR Records.” This was when CAP really started to take off. As the sound quality improved the popularity grew which led to meeting new producers, DJ's and local promoters. CAP was given an opportunity to even be a part of KRS ONE's “Stop the Violence Tour.” . Again this led to CAP meeting new promoters and DJ's which helped him land radio placements, radio appearances & mixtape placements as well. His music acquired quite a following and led to him collaborating with artists from California, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Texas and even Canada without ever leaving NJ. He also had multiple radio appearances with live interviews, promo and freestyle sessions. This led to two other new artists joining and the creation of a group called “C-4,” as well as taking on an producer and hypeman. Unfortunately after releasing one album there was a lack of proper promotion and effort from the members. The members slowly went their own way and the label folded in the process.
After going through this again and with some trouble at home, CAP decided to focus on his family life and take a break from music. Fast forward 11 years, which included the birth of his three children and moving across the country, CAP decided he could no longer ignore the fire inside to create again. He linked up with an amazing local producer and started to really express the years of missed opportunity that were buried inside allowing him to find his peace. What started as more of a therapeutic idea, his popularity started to grow with each new listener. He later joined a music network of like-minded individuals one of which became his partner in music, “Stix Made It.” Based on their work effort and like minded ideas the two decided to put all their cards on the table and start their own team, “Verismo Ent.” While still a very young label it is rapidly rising through the ranks of social media and underground music despite having no official projects released. That first project which will be titled “CAPture Tha Moment” is scheduled to be released in early 2024 and is currently in the final stages of being completed. Much more is to come as this story is far from complete. All I can say is, “Everything happens for a reason.”
